We had a busy day today. We left our hotel at 9:30 a.m. and boarded the Big Bus which is a hop on and hop off bus to all the major sites.
We had seen and visited most of the stops in 2006 except for
Buckingham Palace which I missed because I was sick in bed so we made that one of our stops today so I could see the changing of the guards.
Of course, thousands of others also wanted to see it! We didn't see the actual changing but did see and hear the band as they came in and the guards as they left. It was a very pretty day, 60 degrees and sunny until late afternoon.
I got a close up picture of the mounted policeman and
his horse, Jensen. In fact, I rubbed his nose. Tenley and Reese, you would have loved to have been there to see him!
We saw Big Ben close up,
made a stop at Harrods department store, which we saw last time, but we spent a lot more time there this time and ate lunch in one of the little cafe areas. It was crazy with people every where. They sell everything from electronics to sliced meats and vegetables.
We then hopped on the bus again and rode to Kensington Palace where Princess Diana lived and walked through Kensington Park and also Hyde Park.
The ducks were in Kensington Park. We walked for a couple of hours, and then hopped back on to see more of the streets of London. where the fires started in the 1800s and
Oxford Street which is one of the busiest shopping area in London. We also saw St. Paul's Cathedral before getting back to our hotel room at 5:00 p.m. Tomorrow morning we leave for the ship and will be aboard about 12:00 p.m. London time.
